I have spent over ten years building data warehouses and analytics systems, and about as long under a barbell. PuffinVBT came out of the overlap. I am bad at judging RPE, I have been coached by people who are good at it, and I once bought two tethered velocity devices that ended up in a drawer because setting them up every session was more friction than the numbers were worth. The camera was already pointed at the bar. That turned out to be the whole idea.

It became my Master's thesis at TU Wien, and then it became a product, in that order. The longer version is in why I built PuffinVBT, and the research it rests on is on the about page.

Currently

Cloud Data & AI Engineer at Happtiq, a Google Cloud partner in Vienna - generative-AI systems, productionised machine learning and BigQuery migrations on the Google Cloud stack.

Before that

Ten years in data engineering, warehousing and business intelligence, most recently at Österreichische Lotterien and Capgemini, and before that as data warehouse architect at Betri Trygging in the Faroe Islands.

Certified

Google Cloud Professional Machine Learning Engineer and Data Engineer.

Studied

MSc Data Science at TU Wien (thesis in progress, and the reason this product exists) and BSc Software Engineering at the University of the Faroe Islands. Two peer-reviewed publications, listed on Google Scholar.

Outside work

Powerlifting, which is where the test footage comes from, plus indoor rowing and clay shooting.
